Howard Fineman: “Bottom line, on my scorecard: a tie at best, and certainly not enough of a win for Clinton to change the dynamics of the nomination contest, which Obama is poised to lock up. Clinton wanted to be Joe Frazier, the relentless one, glaring across the ring for 90 minutes at the infuriating man with quick moves and tassels on his high-laced shoes. She complained about the referees, charged ahead as she had to do. She devastated him with a few power punches-but not enough of them-and didn’t level him.”

The Boston Globe’s Peter Canellos: “Clinton, who is trailing in delegates, used her strength as a weapon, returning to the specifics of her healthcare plan as if determined to expose the superficiality of Obama’s. He used his own strength as a means of defense, repeatedly answering her challenges with high-road appeals to find common ground.

“At times — such as when she pushed him to denounce Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan in stronger terms – she seemed to go too far, but as the candidate who is trailing, she needed to take some risks and shake things up. In the end, she may have chafed some viewers but succeeded in taking the fight to Obama. Nonetheless, he seemed to emerge unscathed after skating through some verbal thin ice of his own.”

Roger Simon: “Hillary Clinton as the inevitable Democratic nominee didn’t work. Hillary Clinton as the front-runner didn’t work. So how about Hillary Clinton as the victim? That was her theme at the Democratic debate with Barack Obama in Cleveland Tuesday night.”

Ron Fournier has a similar take: “After trying to save her sinking candidacy with awkward turns of flattery and sarcasm, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton resorted to a new tactic in Tuesday night’s debate: self-pity. ‘In the last several debates, I seem to get the first question all the time,’ the New York senator said, sounding more like a put-upon third-grader than a presidential candidate. The topic was her past support of the North American Free Trade Agreement, an unpopular position in jobs-strapped Ohio. Rather than explain her evolution on trade, Clinton complained about the order of questioning and suggested that she agreed with a comedy skit accusing the media of favoring rival Barack Obama.

“‘I just find it curious. And if anybody saw “Saturday Night Live,” maybe we should ask Barack if he’s comfortable and needs another pillow,’ she said with a smile. ‘I just find it kind of curious that I keeping getting the first question.’ It is not unusual for politicians to feel sorry for themselves. Obama is not above whining about criticism and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, has one of the thinnest skins in politics. But the New York senator’s poor-me attitude punctuated a jarring week of shifting strategies from a desperate Clinton camp.”

If you haven’t been paying attention, here’s a recap of Hillary Clinton’s actions over the past few days.

She started off praising Obama in a debate, saying “it’s an absolute honor to be on stage with Barack Obama”.

Then on Saturday, she feigned anger at an Obama mailer distributed through Ohio…“Shame on you Barack Obama. It is time you ran a campaign consistent with your messages in public. Thats what i expect from you. meet me in Ohio. lets have a debate about your tactics and your behavior in this campaign.”…”Enough with the speeches and the big rallies and then using tactics that are right out of Karl Rove’s playbook.”

The issue is an Obama mailer passed out in Ohio describing Hillary’s position on NAFTA. Bill passed it and Hillary was all about it until this campaign and its an issue she is getting killed on in Ohio. The reason why the anger was obviously fake is because the Mailer has been out for a few weeks now. There is no doubt she was already well aware of the thing, but just happened to get angry about it now.

This an outstanding, concise (not short, it’s a complicated issue) writeup explaining the chain of events. Included as well is a tremendous analogy to the Bush Campaign’s handling the issue of his military service / Dan Rather-Gate in the 2004 election.

Later that day she compared Obama to Bush on the basis that Bush ran on Change in 2000. Making the argument that electing Obama would result in the same type of disaster that Bush ended up as. Its the type of inane analogy that only a Clinton supporter* would be dumb enough to fall for.

The next day, she mocked Obama, his supporters…and Hope…”Now I could just stand up here and say..lets just get everybody together…lets get unified..the sky will open…the light will come down…celestial quires will be signing…and everyone will know we should do the right thing, and the world will be perfect”

stupid cunt. she should just cry on camera again. everyone fell for it the first time.

Really tho, there is nothing she can do. She is completely and totally fucked and she knows it.

After losing 11 straight primaries and entering “Huckabian” ** territory with regard to realistically obtaining enough delegates to win the candidacy, she’s also now down to Obama nationally 51%-39% and 54%-38% in the USA Today / Gallup and New York Times / CBSNEWS polls, respectively.

The Phony Part:

The Re-imagining of Hillary Clinton

Clinton may truly believe she has dedicated her life to working for poor families and children, but her actions speak for themselves:

She freely chose to work for Wal-Mart at a time when that company was profiting by denying health insurance to its low-wage, employees. She freely chose to put her intellect and legal skills at the service of banks and major corporations at the Rose Law Firm. She freely chose to remain silent, if not complicit, when her husband’s administration was making life worse for poor families and children.

Unlike thousands in her generation who sought to organize among the poor to fulfill Dr. King’s legacy, or who joined Cesar Chavez working for economic justice for farm workers, or who worked to unionize low-income women, or who worked for legal services or in civil rights law firms, Hillary Clinton pursued a corporate path.

That was certainly her right. But having taken that path, Senator Clinton has no right to sell an imaginary version of herself as having dedicated her life toward working for poor people.

For Hillary Clinton, that was the road not taken.

The Piece of Shit Part:

The problem for Hillary is that the message she is sending out is about herself. Why she is qualified. What she has done in the past. What she will do in the future.

With Obama, it’s about America.

To any democrats supporting Hillary, please step into the light and come to your senses. This country needs another Clinton in charge like it needs another Bush.

It is not as though the first Clinton administration worked out for the Democratic Party.

The Party suffered under the leadership of Bill Clinton. They lost the house and senate and then managed to lose the Presidency to an embarrassment like DUBYA.
So now that we’re finally back on top, ready to thrive and take control after 8 miserable years, these god damn morons want to GO BACK to the Clintons and suffer the SAME fate we experienced the last time a Clinton was in charge.

Anyways, it looks like Clinton is fucked. You just don’t recover from getting swept 10-0 in two weeks. Not in any competition where WINNING is the only thing that matters.
